Baby vs Baby

Daddy L and I just got back from my family reunion weekend in Waldo, Arkansas.  During our trip to the south, we popped in to visit my Bestie in Dallas.  The poor thing has been on bed rest for the last 4 months of her pregnancy.  Fortunately, her husband is a God send and carries the load while she is "out of commission".  So while I was there, we took baby bump pics, where CLEARLY, she won!  :-)

I also got the chance to hang out with my so cute and smart god daughter, Zoe.  When I asked 3-year old Zoe to sing a nursery song for me that she learned in school, she broke out into..."all the single ladies, all the single ladies, put ya hands up..."!  Okay, you know the rest...too funny!

So...off to Arkansas we went....it was great to see family and where my Daddy grew up.  He always enjoys telling us his life story.

Ready for my First Baby Purchase

I have not at all been motivated or inspired to buy anything baby yet.  I'm not really sure why, since I think I've come to grips with the fact that we're expecting a Little Lavender!  But I say all that, because I think I've mustered up some motivation, or is it impulse?  Whatever it is, when you see this, you'll know why!  It looks like the diaper bag of my dreams.  The Timi & Leslie Charlie diaper bag has everything I want...versatility, spaciousness, it's non-descript and stylish!

Is it just me, or does this look like a buy that I just can't pass up.  It didn't help to read on the website that they can't keep this bag in stock.  MORE reason for my competitive side to come out and say...buy it now!

Time for Another Debut!

12 Weeks and 4 days ~ L.L.

It was so amazing to see L.L. turning somersaults, doing hand stands, turning its back away from the camera and finally when the ultrasound technician wanted L.L. to move...lo and behold, still as a mouse!  Immediately I said, uh oh, stubborn like its Daddy!  So we don't know the sex yet, but there are two thoughts.
  1. The tech says L.L. has a strong chin!  That's D.L.'s chin for sure!  And when you look at the picture, you can see that narrow point!  In the words of D.L., it must be a boy!
  2. L.L. kept putting its hands in its face, making the snapshots hard to get for the tech.  And of course, I say...pretty to the east/pretty to the west!  L.L. must be a pretty girl in the making!!  :-)
We'll see in 8 more weeks!!!

1st Trimester ~ DONE!!

According to the Baby Center, by this point, nearly all of the organs and structures of the fetus are formed. They will continue to grow and develop until delivery. Fingers and toes have separated and hair and nails begin to grow. The genitals begin to take on their gender characteristics. Amniotic fluid begins to accumulate as the baby's kidneys begin to produce and excrete urine. The muscles in the intestinal walls begin to practice peristalsis - contractions within the intestines that digest food.

Where is the time going.  I haven't posted in "belly pics" because I don't have a belly yet!  I still haven't told anyone at work because I'm waiting to start showing.  Tomorrow is my 1st trimester screening, so perhaps when I get the results from that back...maybe I will divulge my secret!  :-)  Fortunately I haven't had any morning sickness or other tell-tale signs that a baby is growing!

My appetite is improving and I find myself eating more full meals now.  As a matter of fact, I took a quick overnight work trip to New Orleans last night to satisfy my cravings.  While I was there, I enjoyed 2 dozen chargrilled Drago's oysters and a 1 1/4 pound stuffed lobster!  YES....gluttonous I know...but OH SO GOOD!

Independence Day

A wonderful weekend in N.Y.!  I know my vacations these days have been short get-aways, and this one was definitely fun filled!

Loving my ponytail blowing in the wind off the Hudson River!

This is a new New York City landmark I noticed on my tour...Jill Zarin's store from H.O.N.Y.C.!

A Cleveland Weekend

We had a wedding to attend last weekend in Cleveland where Daddy L.'s best man/best friend got married.   Though we have been together for almost 6 years, I had still never visited the city of Cleveland in the summer.  It seems that I would only grace the city when snow and ice was all over the sky and road!  Our weekend was so busy that I still didn't get the chance to enjoy the sunny Cleveland landscape, but there will be plenty of time for that, as we live a long life together.  But here are a few pics from the lovely union.  Keep in mind that I've become SO spoiled with the beautiful shots I get from my birthday gift, my Canon XSi Rebel, that my difficult Sony Cybershot digital camera no longer impresses me!!  These pics were taken with my Sony....
